Spin Squeezing and Its Potential Applications in Quantum Metrology

Abstract: A general formula of spin squeezing for SU(2) systems are developed, which is useful to understand a lot of squeezing experiments. According to recent experimental progresses, we propose a simple idea to realize spin squeezing by two-axis twisting, which may be useful to improve the phase sensitivity up to Heisenberg limit. The applications of spin squeezing will be discussed for a linear/nonlinear interferometry.

报告人简介:金光日,1973年3月生,吉林省图们人。2002年,毕业于中国科学院理论物理研究所(导师:孙昌璞院士),获理学博士。2007年至今,任职于北京交通大学物理系,副教授、博士生导师。研究兴趣有:量子光学和量子信息、玻色—爱因斯坦凝聚等。
