A Non-convex Relaxation Approach to the Potts Model for Multiphase Image Segmentation

Abstract: Multiphase segmentation is a very active research area in the community of image processing. Many existing methods in the literature could be thought of being various relaxations to the Potts model. In this talk, we will first review popular convex relaxations to the Potts model, as well as several non-convex relaxations. A new non-convex relaxation will be proposed, and numerical experiments will be provided to show that the non-convex relaxation is superior to the existing convex relaxations.
