Abstract: Titanium dioxide (TiO2) has a wide range of applications in industry, especially for the solar energy harvest and water splitting; however, pure TiO2 can only absorb ultraviolet solar ray which only occupies less than 4% of the whole solar spectrum, due to its nature drawback. Many scientists made effort to extend its absorption range beyond this confinement; while some theoretical investigations, which are based on part of presentator’s previous PhD. research works, in tailoring the electronic structure TiO2 by means of different 4d transition metal element doping schemes will be reported.
