Abstract: In this talk, I will briefly introduce the structure of HA-PACS, a GPU cluster with more than 1000 Tesla M2090 GPUs and its future plan. Then, I will present our time-dependent method in laser material interactions—a hybrid method of using openmp + MPI + cuda C in Fortran. Finally, I will show two my recent research works: (1) the mechanism of the photoelectron angular distribution of atoms ionized in mid-infrared laser fields, which represents an example of understand the quantum world, and (2) control the transparency of atoms by a moderate intense IR laser in attosecond time scale, which represents an example of control the quantum world.
About the Speaker: Dr. Xiao-Min Tong has been an associate Professor at the Institute of Materials Science, University of Tsukuba since 2007. Previously, he was a Research Assistant Professor at the Department of Physics, Kansas State University. He received his B.S. degree from Department of Physics, Peking University in 1984, and his Ph.D in Physics from the Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Science in 1988. His research interests have been in the theoretical atomic, molecular and optical physics, especially in the intense laser material interactions. He has authored and co-authored more than 160 refereed papers, which have been cited more than 3,000 times.
