An Augmented Partial Newton Method for Finding Multiple Solutions

Abstract: Motivated by the idea to use a support spanned by previously found solutions in solving semi-linear PDEs for multiple solutions, a new augmented singular transformation is developed to change the barrier (singularity) structure in the original problem setting for finding multiple solutions. Then an augmented partial Newton method is designed to solve the augmented problem on the solution set. Mathematical justification of the new formulation and method is established. Numerical results are presented with their profile and contour plots to illustrate the method.

报告人简介: 谢资清, 女, 教授, 博士生导师。1996年毕业于中国科学院应用数学研究所, 获理学博士学位。主要从事非线性偏微分方程多解理论及计算方法、奇异摄动问题的数值解法、电磁计算方法以及谱方法的研究工作。2012年获湖南省自然科学奖一等奖(第一排名)。现为湖南师范大学数学与计算机科学学院院长,“高性能计算与随机信息处理”省部共建教育部重点实验室主任兼实验室学术委员会副主任,“计算与随机数学及其应用”湖南省普通高校重点实验室主任。中国计算数学学会理事、湖南省计算数学与应用软件学会副理事长、湖南省数学会常务理事, SCI期刊Acta Mathematica Scientia、国内核心期刊《数学物理学报》和《中国高等学校计算数学学报》编委。曾入选教育部新世纪优秀人才培养计划和湖南省普通高校学科带头人培养计划。已主持5项国家自然科学基金,主持1项省级精品课程。曾多次应邀访问美国、瑞典、香港、德国、新加坡、捷克、挪威等国家和地区的知名大学, 开展合作研究, 并多次在重要国际会议上做45分钟大会特邀报告。在计算数学顶级杂志SIAM Journal on Scientific Computing, Mathematics of Computation, SIAM Journal on Numerical Analysis等刊物发表论文50余篇。组织或主持重要国际会议4次。
