Abstract: Quantum dissipation theory has been very useful in many areas of modern science. Recently, a hierarchical equation of motion (HEOM) method has achieved great success in many fields, such as nonlinear optical spectroscopy for condensed phase and coherent energy transfer in biological systems. While the conventional HEOM method was developed for bosonic bath, we extend the applicability of HEOM method to fermionic environment, so that our HEOM approach is capable of addressing open electronic systems accurately and efficiently. In this talk, I will present some applications of our HEOM method to quantum impurity systems involving Kondo correlations. Also, I will discuss the combination of HEOM method with electronic structure theory (such as the time-dependent density-functional theory) for simulation of electronic dynamics on realistic material surfaces.
