Abstract: The implementation of strong photon-photon interaction is one of the central goals in quantum optics with a significant practical relevance for quantum information processing. This interaction prevents multi-photon from entering the cavity at the same time, leading to the effect known as a photon blockade. It has been expected in optomechanical systems that photon blockade effect can occur under single-photon strong coupling conditions. Recently, we study the photon statistics in coupled optomechanical systems, and show that the photons can exhibit strong antibunching even when optomechanical interaction in the optomechanical system is weak. This surprising photon blockade originates from the cooperation between the weak optomechanical interaction and the destructive interference between different paths for two-photon excitation.
