Guo-Zhen YANG, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Fellow of American Physical Society. He obtained his bachelor and master degrees in physics in 1962 and 1965, respectively, from the Department of Physics, Peking University. He was appointed the Director of the Institute of Physics in the period from 1985 to 1999. He has won several awards of national level for his outstanding scientific achievements. Currently he is the Dean of School of Science at University of Science and Technology of China, President of Chinese Physical Society, the Head of Center for Physical Science at Chinese Academy of Sciences. Guo-Zhen Yang has devoted his research work in the field of theoretical physics, optical physics and condensed matter physics. Yang has also demonstrated his ability in successfully managing many large-scale research projects sponsored by Chinese Academy of Sciences and National Natural Science Foundation of China. He is recognized as one of the leading researchers in the field of optical physics in China.
