Approximations on SO(3) by Wigner D-matrix and applications

Abstract

We consider approximations on SO(3) by Wigner D-matrix. We establish basic approximation properties of Wigner D-matrix, develop efficient numerical schemes using Wigner D-matrix for elliptic and parabolic equations on SO(3), and establish corresponding optimal error estimates. Numerical examples are presented to validate the theoretical estimates and illustrate an application: wormlike chain on spherical surface.

徐劼博士2006年至2010年在北京大学数学科学学院学习,获得学士学位; 2010年在张平文院士指导下攻读博士,于2015年获得博士学位,2016-2019在美国普渡大学从事博士后研究工作。徐劼博士于20199月入职中国科学院计算数学与科学工程计算研究所,他的研究兴趣主要是液晶流的建模与计算、界面问题的数值模拟和梯度流的计算方法.
