Sampling methods in acoustic and electromagnetic waveguides

Abstract

There have been recent interests in inverse scattering for waveguides, mainly motivated by their applications in ocean acoustics,  non-destructive testing of pipes, imaging in tunnels and others. Sampling methods such as the linear sampling method, the factorization method, and their extensions have attracted a lot of interests. These sampling methods do not require a priori information about the scattering objects, and provide both theoretical justifications and robust numerical algorithms. This talk discusses recent works on imaging in an acoustic waveguide with perturbed geometry and partial aperture data, and a sampling method in an electromagnetic waveguide. 

About the Speaker

孟世旭,中国科学院数学与系统科学研究院副研究员。2016年获得特拉华大学博士学位,之后在明尼苏达大学IMA研究所做博士后研究员和密歇根大学做博士后助理教授。一直从事波传播及其反问题的研究,研究兴趣包括采样法,反散射特征值问题,周期介质波传播等。
