During April 13-14, 2018, the 2nd Workshop on Numerical Methods for Fractional-derivative Problems: Singularities and Fast Algorithms organized by Applied and Computational Mathematics Division, Beijing Computational Science Research Center, has been successfully held at CSRC. The workshop was attended by over 100 participants from China and abroad.
In the last ten years there has been an explosion of research activity into the numerical solution of fractional-derivative problems. This has involved researchers in many countries, and in particular, a large number of Chinese researchers are currently very active in this area. The workshop has selected a group of leading researchers – mainly from China – to present lectures on their work, aiming to nurture interactions between the participants in order to progress the development of this research field. The workshop is an opportunity for CSRC to position itself as a facilitator and center for collaborative research in numerical methods for fractional-derivative problems.
The workshop will provide excellent opportunities for networking and the development of research linkages between participants. CSRC post-docs and graduate students can attend lectures by and interact with leading international and national experts. We expect this workshop to build on the success of our 2017 workshop, establishing CSRC as a new national and international center in research into fractional-derivative problems.
