The 2014 CFD Summer School on Modern Techniques for Aerodynamic Analysis and Design is jointly organized by Beijing Computational Science Research Center (www.csrc.ac.cn), School of Aerospace Engineering, Tsinghua University (http://www.hy.tsinghua.edu.cn), State Key Laboratory of Turbulance & Complex Systems, Peking University (http://ltcs.pku.edu.cn), School of Mathematics & System Science, Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (http://smss.buaa.edu.cn/), and Institute of Applied Physics and Computational Mathematics (http://www.iapcm.ac.cn). The aim of the Summer School is to introduce some modern techniques in computational fluid dynamics (CFD) for aerodynamic analysis and design to students and researchers working in aerodynamics and CFD. The topics covered in the short courses include: finite-volume (FV) and finite-element (FE) methods, high- order discontinuous Galerkin (DG) reconstructed discontinuous Galerkin (RDG) methods, implicit temporal schemes and multigrid acceleration techniques, adjoint methods, unstructured grid, turbulence modeling, and gradient-based numerical optimization algorithms. The Summer School will be held in the School of Aerospace Engineering of Tsinghua University, Beijing, July 7~11, 2014. The Summer School consists five topics, one in each day, and taught by renowned experts in their respective fields. The instructor for each topic will give 4 one-hour long lectures, two in morning and two afternoons. Class starts 9:30am each morning and 2:30pm each afternoon. The lectures will be given at Meng-Ming-Wei Science Building, North Wing, Tsinghua University.
