The sigma-bonding electrons have large binding energy and are stabilized by strong electron-phonon interaction . If one can lift the sigma-bonding band up to the Fermi level , by chemical doping or other charging effects , the strong binding energy is released , but the residual electron-phonon interact-ion can still be very strong . This provides a universal scheme forhunting high-Tc superconductors .

向涛，在清华大学获学士(1984年)和硕士(1986年)学位，在中国科学院理论物理所获博士学位(1990年)。1990-1998年先后在英国牛津大学、Warwick 大学和剑桥大学做博士后研究工作。1998年入选中国科学院“百人计划”，被聘为理论物理研究所研究员，2007年转入中国科学院物理研究所工作至今。2013年当选中国科学院院士，2015年当选发展中国家科学院院士。
