• Project Title: Model Reduction in Kinetic Theory

  Project Description: The kinetic theory is very important in a number of high-tech fields such as the space exploration, plasma, and microscopic flow. However, the numerical cost of solving the kinetic equation directly in large systems is still unaffordable. The highly efficient numerical solvers are needed to solve this problem. Or, people may build the simplified models instead of directly solving the Boltzmann equation. The numerical difficulties in different application areas always vary greatly and are always hard to solve. In this project, we are focusing on the model reduction of the kinetic equations based on moment method.

  Number of Position: 1-2 postdoctoral position is available

  Requirements: The candidate should have a Ph.D. in mathematics, computer science, or mechanical engineering. Experience in numerical simulation of fluid and machine learning is desirable. The candidate should be proficient in speaking and writing English.
